I did this hike last weekend and would say It is safe if they are used to big walks. There are some parts you would certainly want to hold their hand and help them over some uneven surfaces but we saw lots of young kids doing it with no problem in fact a few were wearing ballerina outfits and flip flops (that I wouldn’t recommend).
